Steve Melen has been a financial advisor working at some of the largest firms in the San Francisco Bay Area since 1993. With a go-go mentality, the shifting nature and speed of the stock market suited him well. He'd run with the bulls in Pamplona and party across France. He also dabbled in side ventures, from restaurants to racehorses, which had given him a taste of life outside the financial services industry.

He is a medical miracle: a man who has survived Stage IIIB cancer and lived longer than most without a stomach. His story is not about bravery, the fight against the "big C," or what happens next. It's about the crazy ride you go on after you beat the odds and the love story it led him on.

Some might say he's lucky, but Steve says I'm blessed.

After the darkest period of his life, He jumped at the chance to buy a portion of a racehorse. Her name was as unique as her. "Killer Graces" She was a chestnut filly with long, sinewy legs.

As the author of Killer Graces and one of a few who have survived without a stomach this long, he is a mentor and inspiration to many. His recent interview in Soft White Underbelly has gone viral with 1 million views and counting.

Steve wrote his book with one goal: to hope his story can provide hope to just one person and make someone think, "Hey, someone else got out of the most awful experience ever; maybe I can do that." Steve would consider his mission a success.

Steve calls Tiburon home, and each morning, he wakes up to a breathtaking view of San Francisco Bay.
